Many residents confuse the hundred or so drunken louts who populate the Esplanade at night with genuine folkies. Every large festival attracts local 'hangers-on'. For some people in Sidmouth, anyone enjoying themselves is 'disgusting' - there have even been complaints about the noise of the RAF Red Arrows display team - a magnificent spectacle that lasts all of a few minutes!
